Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Previous travel experience
- Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
- Experience titrating drips
- Heparin drip experience
Unit Details
- 54-bed neuro medical-surgical acute unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days, 1:5-6 on nights
- House-wide telemetry; nurses do not need to read strips
- Charge nurse and house supervisor are on duty 24/7
- Patient care tech support is available on all shifts
Responsibilities
- Float in rotation with the rest of the staff
- Provide only skills you are competent to perform when floated outside the general unit
Orientation
- 2 days of unit and computer orientation with an educator and preceptor
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Negative drug screen required
- Tattoos must be covered while on duty
- No piercings besides ears
