Job Details

• Specialty: Surgical Tech with focus on Orthopedics (total knee/hips), Neurosurgery, Trauma, and Robotic (DaVinci) surgery
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day and Evening shifts available
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, averaging 24 hours per week
• Typical Shift Times:

  • 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • 10:45 AM – 7:15 PM
  • 10:45 AM – 11:15 PM
  • 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• Orientation: Biweekly start dates throughout the year; rotating day/afternoon shifts on weekends (12-hour shifts, no call)
• Work Environment:

  • 33 total OR suites (23 on 5 North, 10 on 2 West)
  • Primarily outpatient cases on 2 West (ambulatory experience preferred for this area)
  • Average 80-120 cases per day
  • Level I Trauma Center with 24/7 poly trauma response

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Completion of one of the following educational or training programs:

  • Surgical Technology program
  • Registered Nurse (RN) program
  • Summer surgical tech extern program
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided for OR staff
• The facility covers multiple surgical service lines including:

  • Orthopedics: major ortho, joints, spines, sports medicine, trauma
  • Neurosurgery: craniotomies and spine surgeries
  • Robotic surgery (DaVinci): surgical oncology, urology, gynecology (bonus but not required)
  • Bariatric surgery
  • ENT: head & neck free flaps, reconstruction, basic ENT cases
  • Ophthalmology: retina, cataracts, oculoplastics
• Separate teams handle adult and pediatric heart surgeries and kidney transplants (not part of this role)

Submission Requirements

• Candidates can only be submitted to one position at a time within the system
• Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after completing at least 1 full year on assignment
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
• Only 2 candidates can be submitted per opening; additional submissions may be held until a spot opens
