Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- On-Call Requirements:
- 1 weekend every 6-8 weeks
- 1 weeknight per week (Monday through Thursday)
- Holidays as operationally needed
- Start Dates Available: May 11, May 18, or June 1, 2026
Required Experience & Skills
- Pediatric OR experience required
- Ambulatory OR experience required
- Pediatric trauma experience required
- Must be a Registered Nurse with a Wisconsin RN license or a compact RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
Required Certifications & Exams
- BLS (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as applicable
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if required by unit
- Facility-specific Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for all pediatric inpatient units (NICU, PICU, Pediatric unit)
- Must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start date and updated annually
- Candidates allowed 3 attempts with remediation after 2nd failure
- Facility-specific Adult Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) if applicable
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication as required
Licensure & Verification
- Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Education verification as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monthly thereafter
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening required within 90 days of start
- Drug screening required per Vaya standard (clinical candidates)
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (must be within 1 year)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof (one adult Tdap required; 10-year update not mandatory)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- TB questionnaire required annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and positive titer or facility-specific declination form required if providing direct patient care or exposure to blood/body fluids
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (September 22 – April 13)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination required if working in Microbiology department
Facility-Specific Documents & Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Communicable Disease form (completed within 90 days of start)
- Flu medical or religious exemption forms if applicable
- MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B medical or religious waiver forms if applicable
- Pediatric Telemetry and Adult Telemetry study guides and tests as required
- Rhythm Interpretation Course required if remediation needed after telemetry exam failures
Additional Notes
- Interview availability required; candidates must provide three available dates/times including time zone
- Strict compliance with all testing, certification renewals, and documentation deadlines is mandatory
- Candidates must meet all facility and state-specific requirements prior to start
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatric Operating Room (OR) experience
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Ambulatory surgery experience
- Pediatric trauma experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
