Overview

• Role: NICU RN
• Location: Longmont, Colorado
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 per week
• Unit: NICU/Nursery
• Level of NICU: Level 2
• Beds: 6
• Patient ratio: 1:1–3 babies

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of NICU experience
• BLS
• NRP
• Must be willing to learn to care for stable post-partum mothers and babies if needed

Preferred

• Prior travel experience

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Schedule is made by leadership for 6 weeks at a time
• Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• 6–9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
• May be asked to go into the holiday rotation
• Rare call or standby for low census

Floating

• May float to St Anthony North if low census or there is a need there

Clinical Focus

• Hypoglycemia
• IV antibiotics
• Mild respiratory distress
• Phototherapy
• Pre-term babies learning to bottle feed and gain weight
• Some withdrawing babies from maternal drug use
• NICU RNs attend C-sections and vaginal deliveries and care for the baby only

Orientation

• 1–3 shifts with a preceptor
• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are completed remotely

Additional Notes

• Blue hospital scrubs provided
• Radius: 60 miles; driver’s license must be submitted
• Hiring process includes an interview with the MedSol Clinical Team
• May be asked to care for stable post-partum mothers and babies; training will be provided if the traveler does not have that experience
