Beds: 33 total, average daily census 16
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 for adults
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Holiday Requirement: Minimum of 2 holidays during contract
Orientation: 1 shift of unit-specific orientation
Return to Orientation (RTO): Required within 7 days or less from start; no additional RTO approved
Scheduling: Self-scheduling available for core staff and travelers; block scheduling generally not approved except possibly weekends only
Call Back Policy: If called back to work, must arrive within 30 minutes

Common diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress
RNs are required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
Respiratory equipment: Nasal cannula to ventilator; RNs troubleshoot but respiratory therapists provide primary care
Monitors/Telemetry: RNs must read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips (GE brand); telemetry tech oversight provided
Floating: Typically to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or occasionally MedSurg with typical ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
Nurse Aides and Healthcare Support Techs assist based on census and volume

Valid RN license in Nebraska
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
