Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

Level 2 Trauma Center with 4 critical care bays
Emergency Department (ED) with a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
Chest pain center and primary stroke center
Teleneurology support for stroke cases
No Pediatric ICU; pediatric patients are transferred out
Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
Equipment includes ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro telecomputer, and handheld Care Aware devices
Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems: Omnicell, EPIC, SBAR

Position Details

Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Emergency Department
Number of Openings: 1
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Weekly Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: No guaranteed weekends off; scheduling aims to be fair
Call Requirements: None
Float Requirement: Travelers must float to ED holding area
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maine
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Experience in a non-trauma Emergency Department setting
Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
Experience caring for ventilated patients
