Overview

Travel assignment in Tallahassee, Florida
Unit: 608 Orthopedics
Main building
18 beds
12-hour shifts, 3 per week, with weekend commitments
Floating may include other medical units; if floated to PCU, the assignment is modified with no drips
Documentation system: Meditech

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Florida
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Orthopedics (2 years of experience)
Orthopedics experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association
Orthopedic experience
Orthopedic Surgery experience

Unit Details

Patient ratio: 1:5 or 1:6; 1:7 only when surging to decompress the ER
Shared secretary and 1 to 1.5 C.N.A. depending on volume
Equipment includes vital signs monitor, Remote Telemonitoring, IMobile, bladder scanner, vein finder, Dopplers, SCDS, Alaris Pumps, wound vacs, and On Q Pump
Procedures performed on the unit include IV starts, Foley insertion, dressing changes, and NG tube insertions
Patient experience focus includes timely call light response, bedside reporting in patient rooms, and purposeful hourly rounding
