Unit Overview

• Cardiac telemetry unit
• 29 beds
• Typical patient ratio: 1:4
• Fast-paced environment
• Family-like atmosphere

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Telemetry (1 year of experience)
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Experience with post-cardiac procedural care including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
• Ability to administer and titrate IV medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone

Preferred / Advanced Experience

• Post-cardiac procedural care experience, including:

  • Ablations
  • Cardiac catheterizations
  • Post-op day 1 open heart care
  • Permanent pacemaker placements
• Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone

Unit Responsibilities

• IV insertions
• NGT placement and maintenance
• Chest tube maintenance
• Temporary pacemakers
• Foley insertions

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Must work full-time hours
• Must work 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
• May be floated to any area where competency has been demonstrated

Additional Notes

• Uses Meditech for documentation
• Navy blue scrubs required; black scrub pants with navy blue top are also allowed
• Patient experience expectations include courtesy, respect, responsiveness to call lights, and bedside communication practices
