RN - PCU

Overview

• Travel assignment in Asheville, North Carolina.
• Unit: D3-A
• 10-bed ICU/PCU Overflow unit in A tower, D corridor, 3rd floor.
• 36 hours per week.
• 13-week contract.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday support required
• No on-call requirement

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Ventilator management
• Critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Central line management
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience

Unit Details

• Patient ratios: 2:1 ICU, 4-5:1 PCU
• No unit secretaries or PCTs
• Charge nurse out of staffing
• Day shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RN
• Night shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RN
• Equipment includes lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), ventilators, and IV pumps
• Cerner documentation system
• Bedside shift report is mandatory in all areas of the hospital
• Relief charge nurse is expected to perform nurse leader rounding

Procedures / Clinical Experience

• Advanced skills include ventilator management, critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors, etc.), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line management
• May assist providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations

Floating

• Travelers will be required to float

Dress Code

• Navy blue or white scrubs
