Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Department (ED/ER)
- Shift: Evenings (3:00 PM – 3:00 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (must be specified on submission)
- Number of Openings: 1
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Call Requirements: None
- Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1; may vary during surge or other circumstances
- Unit Beds: 68
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with trauma and pediatric patients
- High acuity experience preferred
- Comfortable managing 200+ patients per day in a busy urban trauma center
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
- Utilize nursing process consistent with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs., pinching up to 15 lbs., minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1; declinations not accepted
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Time off requests (RTO) must be made on the back end of the assignment; no RTO in the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
- Dress code: Black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed
