Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Medical-Surgical

Location: Urbana, Illinois

Hours: 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including post-operative care for CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation within the nursing scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities

Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care.
Implement and modify nursing interventions based on continuous patient evaluation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Conduct hourly rounding on patients to ensure safety and quality care.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
Minimum 3 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Specialty Focus

Cardiovascular medical-surgical nursing care, including postoperative care for CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients.
Skilled in nursing process, patient assessment, care planning, nursing interventions, documentation, safety reporting, and hourly rounding.
