Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Medical-Surgical
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night
Hours: 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care to cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including post-operative care for CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation within the nursing scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions based on continuous patient evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Conduct hourly rounding on patients to ensure safety and quality care.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 3 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
Specialty Focus
- Cardiovascular medical-surgical nursing care, including postoperative care for CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients.
- Skilled in nursing process, patient assessment, care planning, nursing interventions, documentation, safety reporting, and hourly rounding.
