Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Alternating day shifts, either 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM, which may vary throughout the week based on staffing needs.
Hours: 40 hours per week (4x10 hour shifts)
Call: Required
Block Schedule: May be accommodated but not guaranteed

Pending License: Not accepted
Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Minimal

Diverse surgical cases including:
- General OR procedures
- Bariatric surgeries (Gastric bypass, Sleeve, Lap band)
- Vascular surgeries (Aortic aneurysm repair, Carotid procedures, Bypass grafts)
- Thoracic surgeries (Lung resection, Thoracotomy, VATS)
- ENT procedures (Laryngectomy, Tonsillectomy, Tracheostomy, Bronchoscopy)
- GI surgeries (Colonoscopy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernia repair)
- Gynecological surgeries (Hysterectomy, Dilation & Curettage, Tubal ligation)
- Neurosurgery (Craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, Spinal fusions)
- Orthopedic and spine surgeries (Joint replacement, Arthroscopy, Fracture repair)
- Plastic and reconstructive surgeries (Mastectomy with reconstruction, Abdominoplasty)
- Urology (Cystectomy, Prostatectomy, Nephrectomy)
- Other procedures including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System cases, amputations, and more.
Experience needed in ortho-total joint and trauma, neuro, gynecology/urology, vascular, and thoracic specialties.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Health & Compliance Requirements

Government-issued photo ID required
7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly
Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if applicable
Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
Snellen eye exam within 1 year
COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Documentation & Verification

Education verification from primary source required (no hard copies)
State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
Employment application and work history verification required
References (2 within 3 years) required for agency direct candidates
Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations
