Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Perform radiographic procedures requiring strong knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology.
• Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating technical competency and initiative.
• Coverage includes Operating Room (OR), Orthopedics, Fluoroscopy, Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room (ER).
• On-call rotation required, including weekends.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
• On-call rotation through weekends

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technician license in South Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technician experience within the last year
• ARRT (R) certification
• SCRQSA (R) certification
• BLS certification
• Fluoroscopy experience
• Operating Room (OR) experience
• X-Ray Technician experience

Licensure & Certifications

• Active, unencumbered South Carolina radiologic technologist license or equivalent as applicable.
• Primary source verification of license required.
• BLS and CPR certifications must be current (not expiring within 30 days of start).
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required.
• Background checks including:

  • SSN Trace
  • Statewide and national criminal checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder until verification is complete.
• OFAC Sanctions List Search required prior to start.
• Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers.
• Color blindness testing required prior to start.
• Competency exams required, including medication/pharmacology and OR competency if applicable.
• Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start.
• Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest X-ray if prior positive.
• Annual TB questionnaire completion required.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (chickenpox) immunity or vaccination
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31).
• Respirator medical clearance required annually for patient-facing roles.

• Facility is a Level III Trauma, Acute Care Hospital with 286 staffed beds.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Parking is free.
• Scrub color: Teal top and black bottom.
• Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Facility may call off one shift every two weeks.
• Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension contracts during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern.
