Registered Nurse - PACU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 1430 - 2300 (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM)
  • Hours per week: 40 hours
  • Call: Every 3rd weekend, usually volunteer basis; call shifts are 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Holidays: Included in call schedule
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2; can increase up to 1:4 during overflow situations
  • Scrub Color: Royal blue
  • Assignment Note: May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying onsite until the event passes or serving on relief teams

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care, with experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
    • Sex offender search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education Verification: Primary or 3rd party verification of highest education level required
  • License Verification: Must be completed within 30 days of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; must be initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance
  • Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start, indicating good physical health
  • Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit test required; can be completed onsite if needed
  • Immunizations & Health:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series (2 doses)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, completed vaccine series, booster, or signed declination within 1 year
    • Varicella: Positive IGG titer, completed vaccine series, or booster
    • Tdap: Required for specific units (not specified here)
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Employment History: Resume/application required with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps
