Registered Nurse - MICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Immediate start required, no later than June 29.
Holiday coverage required with flexibility; no return to office (RTO) in first two weeks.
Floating required between ICU and Med-Surg units based on census.
Patient ratios vary by acuity and unit:
- ICU/PCU mix: 1:1 to 1:4
- Ventilated patients: 1:2
- High acuity (Cooling/CRRT): 1:1
- Med-Surg: approximately 1:5-7
Typical patient diagnoses include COPD, encephalopathy, drug overdose, DKA, AKI, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation.
Special procedures performed: CRRT, hemodialysis, arterial line placement, central venous catheter placement, tracheostomy placement, chest tube placement.
Special equipment used: cooling machines, Bair Huggers, massive transfusion protocols, CRRT.
Average of 3 ventilated patients per day on unit.
ICU physicians may retain patients with low acuity, affecting nurse-to-patient ratios.
Weekend work every other weekend.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
