Overview

• Hours: 36 per week, 12-hour shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)
• Last four digits of SSN
• Clinician’s middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen for all panels

Unit Details

• 63 beds total: 49 private and 9 observation beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 4–5 on days, 5–6 on nights; may increase to 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights if needed
• Common patient types include post-op surgical, trauma, overflow medical, dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs, central lines, and TPN
• Heparin is the only common titratable/set-rate drip
• No vents; CPAP and high flow are used
• Telemetry is present; bedside RNs do not read strips
• Charge nurses do not take an assignment
• PCT support is available

• Post-op care of patients
• Critical thinking skills
• Ability to ask for help when needed
• Good bedside manner
• Team player

Scheduling

• Day shift: 0700–1930
• Every other weekend required
• Rotates every other holiday
• Travelers do not self-schedule
• Block scheduling may be considered if approved at contract time

Floating

• Travelers are first to float
• Float assignments are to units with the same level of experience
• If an ICU RN floats to a general unit, they take a team of 3 patients

Orientation

• 2 shifts with a preceptor
• One additional 12-hour shift for EPIC and professional orientation with the unit educator

Other Notes

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Local clinicians receive a reduced rate
• No call or standby requirement
• Any color scrubs allowed
