Job Opportunity: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Nurse
Location: Frederick, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Work Environment
- 27-bed Family Center LDRP unit specializing in couplet care, newborn assessment, and antepartum patient services
- Role includes care for Labor & Delivery (excluding triage and circulating), Postpartum, Newborn, and Antepartum patients
- Floating to Labor and Delivery to support LDRP needs
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Rotating holidays and weekends required; block scheduling not accommodated
- No on-call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 3 years of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) and Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Certifications & Competencies
- C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification required; NCC preferred (NCC must be obtained if contract extends beyond 1 year)
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC provider only)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required for Labor & Delivery, NICU, and Antepartum
- Pass/Fail testing and Net Learning Modules required prior to start (includes Orientation to VAS and Pharmacology exams; must score 80% or higher)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for this specialty
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during work hours
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SS trace, sex offender registry, and education verification
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (initial and updated annually)
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year of start, updated annually; two-step PPD within 90 days of start acceptable
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Tdap (no declination allowed)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required for low titers)
- Hepatitis B series or positive titer (no declinations accepted; must start series if low titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required for low titers)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid acceptable); must be negative including marijuana regardless of state legalization
- Fit mask testing required prior to start (specific mask types mandated)
Documentation & Onboarding
- Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months required
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist for applicable unit must be updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific Net Learning Modules and pass/fail testing mandatory before orientation; modules take 4-5 hours and must be completed 1 week prior to start
- Photo for badge required (no nose rings allowed in photo)
- Attendance and punctuality expectations must be reviewed and signed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced LDRP nurses with strong acute care skills and prior travel nursing experience seeking a dynamic role in a family-centered maternity unit.
