Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults
Location
- Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Patient ratio approximately 1:25
- Serves adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Unit protocols include robust Assess and Treat, ventilator management, and liberation policies
- Equipment used includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with iNOvent, and LTV1200
- Floating within skillset required
Additional Requirements
- Must submit all scheduling requests with application
- Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Locals are not accepted due to radius restrictions
- First-time travelers accepted; 1 year of travel experience preferred
Required Documentation & Compliance
- I-9 or attestation
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address meeting radius criteria (within 100 miles of facility)
- E-Verify or attestation
- 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (not required annually unless break in assignments >30 days)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification including transcript or diploma showing highest earned degree
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Fit test within 1 year, updated annually (not required for students)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Two clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Completed employment application/resume
- Annual skills checklist update
- Professional photo for badge (no selfies or filters, plain background)
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements prior to start
- Orientation manual review and acknowledgment prior to start
