Overview
- 13-week contract
- Nights, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Inpatient Surgical, 3rd floor
- 48 beds across two buildings
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Med Surg / Telemetry (1 year of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Surgical experience
- Total joint replacement experience
- Ortho Trauma experience
- Experience with Epic
- Ability to titrate heparin per protocol
- Experience with PCA pumps
- Experience with reversal drugs (Narcan)
- Sepsis management experience
- Experience with TPN and Lipids
- Narcotic usage experience
Preferred
- None stated
Schedule
- Every other weekend
- Holiday rotation with core staff
- Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance
- No call or standby requirement
Floating
- Float to like units only
- If floated to higher acuity, role is as a help-all and does not take a patient load
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-6 on nights; 1:5-6 with LPNs available, virtual admission and discharge nurses assisting
- Tele monitor tech monitors the unit
- Charge nurse may take a smaller assignment
- Nurse aides are available, though they may be pulled to sitters
- CPAP is managed by RT; BiPAP may occasionally stay on the unit; Airvo may be used
