Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Tele) - Nights

Location: Middletown, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Med Surg/Telemetry RN for night shifts in a hospital setting. The role requires working 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend including Sundays, with a total of 36 hours per week (overtime after 48 hours).

Required Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN license
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required (not open to first-time travelers)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is mandatory
• Ability to work every other weekend including Sundays (EOW mandatory)
• Must be able to work 48 hours before overtime applies
• No local travelers within 50 miles accepted
• Must be available to start on specified orientation dates
• Cannot hold another job while on this assignment
• Minimal return to office (RTO) during first two weeks and minimal thereafter

Work Environment & Unit Details

• Unit: Medical North 4 (26 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Nights 1:7-8
• Charge nurse shared with another unit
• Nurse aides available (1:8 ratio)
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory treatments performed by nurses; CPAP use at night only
• IV team available 7 AM – 8:30 PM; nurse resource available 7 PM – 7 AM
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• Scrub color: Caribbean blue top layer (black or white shirts allowed underneath), pants black or Caribbean blue

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• Lunch breaks are unpaid
• Overtime after 48 hours

Patient Population & Care Focus

• General medical patients with a variety of diagnoses
• Telemetry monitoring required (Telemetry unit)
• Ventilator support limited to CPAP at night

• Blocked schedules are not offered
• No local or first-time travelers accepted
• Must submit an accurate, detailed, and up-to-date profile for consideration
• Orientation consists of 2 shifts on the specific floor

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, weekend work, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment with EPIC system proficiency.
