Medical Surgical RN
Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Saint Louis, Missouri
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Start date is 3–4 weeks out, depending on compliance tier
- Patient ratio: 1:4–6
- Guaranteed hours included
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 5 years of nursing experience
- Med Surg (5 years of experience)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- EKG interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Blood product administration
- Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) management
- Spinal cord injury care
- Traumatic brain injury care
- Peripheral nerve block catheter management
- Total joint replacement care
- Surgical drain management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac equipment)
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Pending license accepted
- Local candidates are not accepted within a 75-mile radius
Schedule Expectations
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope may be required
- On-call is not required
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Up to 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract

Unit / Patient Population
- Trauma patients from the ED, OR, or ICU
- Geriatric trauma patients age 55+
- Trauma cases including abuse/violence victims, motor vehicle accidents, and falls
- Acute care surgery cases including appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, and TBI
Additional Notes
- Navy blue scrubs
- EPIC charting
- Short-term acute care, Magnet and teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
- Monthly parking passes are available; parking during orientation has a fee, and day/night rotation parking has a monthly fee
