Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department (ED) facility.
- Evening shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (14:30 to 03:00), totaling 36 hours/week.
- Must be willing to float as needed.
- Patient ratios may vary, often stretching to 1:5 or higher during surge periods.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Completion of Harassment Prevention Training.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Emergency contact information form prior to start.
- Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (updated annually).
- Education verification and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN staff).
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement, annual).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (N95 or equivalent respirators).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start date.
- Immunization or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season.
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination.
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Two professional references from travel, allied, or per diem acute care within 3 years.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of online learning modules prior to first shift.
- Submission of appropriate photo for badge (headshot, plain background, no head coverings).
- Signing of facility-specific job description, welcome packet, Omnicell form, and pneumococcal declination if applicable.
- Completion of medication and EKG competency exams as required.
