Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
• Rotating day/night shifts:

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Shift schedules may vary to meet operational needs; facility will attempt to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
• Current certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background checks including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing; must be updated annually.
• Education verification required; international verifications require CGFNS documentation as placeholder if needed.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions; latex allergy notification required if applicable.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually; religious/medical exemptions require approval.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Annual flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually; instant drug screens not accepted.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Medication administration and ECG competency exams (SafeMedicate and ECG interpretation) required at orientation with minimum passing scores.
• Modules and competency exams are not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts at this facility.
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).

References & Work History

• Two professional references required from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.

Additional Notes

• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
• Travelers must be prepared for potential shift rotation and holiday work.
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with prior notification.
• Prior travel experience is accepted but not explicitly required beyond recent specialty experience.
