Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating day/night shifts:
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Shift schedules may vary to meet operational needs; facility will attempt to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- Current certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required; international verifications require CGFNS documentation as placeholder if needed.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions; latex allergy notification required if applicable.
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually; religious/medical exemptions require approval.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed
- Annual flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually; instant drug screens not accepted.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
- Medication administration and ECG competency exams (SafeMedicate and ECG interpretation) required at orientation with minimum passing scores.
- Modules and competency exams are not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts at this facility.
- Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
References & Work History
- Two professional references required from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
Additional Notes
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Travelers must be prepared for potential shift rotation and holiday work.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with prior notification.
- Prior travel experience is accepted but not explicitly required beyond recent specialty experience.
