Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 6:45 PM), every other weekend required
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests may be accommodated upon discussion with manager
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • PICC line management experience

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet recognized
  • Total staffed beds: 562
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Scrub color: Any solid color
  • Parking permit required (no cost)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions
  • State-specific searches including Illinois Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and Violent Offender registries within 30 days of start
  • Fingerprinting required in Illinois within 3 business days prior to start for clinical candidates without an IL license
  • Education verification required (official or unofficial transcripts accepted if pending)
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
  • Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical travel candidates

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform job functions without restrictions
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must submit a badge photo within one week of contract signing
  • Code of conduct acknowledgment required within 7 days of contract signing
  • Parking permit form must be completed within 7 days of contract signing if applicable
  • Return to office (RTO) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
