Job Description

• Position involves working in Surgical Services with a focus on cardiovascular operating room technology.
• Schedule: Day shifts, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts alternating between 6:30 AM–5:00 PM and 9:30 AM–8:00 PM.
• Weekend and night on-call required: weekday nights (12 hours), weekends (24-48 hours).
• First-to-float between two campuses.
• Scrub experience preferred in General Surgery, Urology, and Orthopedics.
• Experience with trauma patients required (Level 2 trauma center).
• Use of Cerner electronic charting system.
• Scrubs provided.
• First-time travelers accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist.
• CVOR Technologist experience within the last year.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Certification from NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing).
• Experience working with Level 2 trauma patients.

Certifications & Competencies

• Pass/Fail “In House Skills Assessment” during orientation; failure may result in contract cancellation.
• Core mandatory inservice training with testing (minimum 80% passing score) required annually.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
• Competency exams specific to unit assignment.
• Signed HIPAA statement and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.

Licensure

• Valid New Jersey license appropriate for the role.
• Primary source verification of license within 30 days of start.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam (medical clearance) signed by MD, NP, DO, or PA within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (not required for lab or sterile processing techs).
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire updated annually.
• Vaccination or positive titer required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10-panel drug test within 60 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); medical and religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
• Latex screening questionnaire required if not included in physical.

Background & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year search and international search if applicable.
• Education verification required; official transcripts if diplomas cannot verify education.
• E-Verify or attestation confirming work eligibility in the US.
• New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List check within 30 days of start.
• Fingerprinting required only for Behavioral Health units (not applicable here).
• Central Registry Form required only for Behavioral Health units (not applicable here).
