Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Job Details

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Schedule: Weekend and rotating holidays required
Float Requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 3 patients
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 3 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Licenses & Certifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Competencies & Exams

Must complete a Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam prior to start
Unit-specific competency exams required
Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)

Background & Credentialing Requirements

7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
Monthly monitoring through EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG databases
Verification of nursing education from an accredited program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
State license verification within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification for RN license
Employment application and skills checklist required
Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leader)

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and no contagious disease
Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test
Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series; declination accepted)
Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Facility Policies & Training

Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policies
Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually for new contracts starting 11/7/24 and beyond
