Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Kerrville, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide compassionate, world-class patient care and teamwork on Medical Surgical unit (2W).
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients.
• Schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off over a 4-week cycle with weekend requirements.

  • Weekend shifts total 8 in 4 weeks; must be available for 4 of these.
  • Weekend day shifts are Saturday and Sunday; weekend night shifts are Friday and Saturday nights.
• Floating required to unit 3W and other units as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Shift Details

• Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Total hours per week: 36

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance.
• Background checks including 7-year search, SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, education verification, and annual federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
• Professional references: 2 required within 3 years of start.
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams (medication/pharmacology and specialty-specific).
• Primary source verification of RN license.

Health and Safety Requirements (Must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing unless otherwise noted)

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable (annual requirement).
• Vaccinations or documented immunity/declination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.

Location Highlights

• Kerrville is located in Texas’s wine country, approximately 1 hour from San Antonio.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with prior travel assignments who are flexible with floating and weekend scheduling.
