Unit Overview

Labor and delivery unit in a women’s hospital
High-risk obstetrical unit
24 beds
Typical patient ratios: 2:1 and 3:1 for OBED triage
May float to the antepartum unit within Women’s

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
AWHONN
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NRP
Experience working with High Risk patients

Procedures / Clinical Experience

Vaginal deliveries
C-sections
D&C
Post-delivery recovery care

Preferred Certification

Intermediate AWHONN fetal monitoring certificate

Additional Notes

Uses Meditech and CPN for documentation
GE fetal monitors used on the unit
