CT Scan Technologist
Location: Edison, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Sunday–Thursday)
Hours: 40 hours per week (5x8s)
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Job Summary
- Perform complex CT procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation.
- Assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history; document in PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/families; document in EPIC.
- Administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Verify exam prescriptions and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as needed.
- Verify insurance authorization and coordinate exam modifications.
- Obtain and schedule outside studies for Radiologist comparison.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting parties.
- Evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality using PACS.
- Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
- Determine appropriate contrast type and dose.
- Explain procedures and address patient questions at an understandable level.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance per guidelines.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime as needed.
- May have on-call assignments per department policy.
- Lift at least 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
- Adapt care to meet diverse patient needs (age, culture, language, sensory impairments).
Required Qualifications
- ARRT (CT) certification required within 12 months of hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of CT experience required (5 years preferred).
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
- Understanding of CT software and hardware mechanics.
- Proficient with PACS system and Epic EMR.
- Experience with GE equipment and Fuji PACS required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy Emergency Department environment.
- Maintain continuing education credits (CEUs).
Physical Requirements
- Lift minimum 25 lbs., push/pull minimum 50 lbs.
- Stand for at least 6 hours per day.
Additional Information
- Night shift hours: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
- Holidays required; no on-call for this shift.
No prior travel experience is required for this position.
