Schedule

• Nights, 3x12s
• Shift options listed: 7-3, 3-11, 7-7, or 11-7
• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate with permanent staff

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Connecticut
• Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2 years of experience
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
• Extensive mechanical ventilator management experience

Clinical Setting / Coverage

• Inpatient coverage across ICU, ER, L&D, Medsurg, Psych, recovery room, and sleep lab
• Very rare offsite SNF coverage as a last resort
• Primarily adults, with a few pediatric patients in the ER or minor surgeries on the floor
• Must cover all areas

Duties

• Draw and read ABGs
• Draw off A-line using Epoc machine
• Assist with bronchs
• Attend codes and rapid responses
• Set up blenders and humidifiers in L&D
• Stabilize and transfer patients
• Capillary sticks
• Assist with intubations only
• May occasionally go to the sleep lab to place patients on O2 or adjust oxygen

• No call or standby call
• Department orientation: 2 days to 1 week
• Black and teal tops and bottoms
• Equipment includes Draeger, Vision BiPap, V60s, Dräger Carina, and 2 Puritan Bennett units
