Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Level 1 trauma experience
• Previous travel experience
• Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Heparin gtt experience
• Must provide the last four digits of SSN
• Must provide middle initial
• Must provide requested time off

Preferred

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• Floats in rotation with the rest of the staff
• When floated to the general unit floor, takes a full team
• If floated outside the general unit, works only within skills competency and with a nurse trained for that unit

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and does not take an assignment unless short staffed and nurses would be above ratios
• House supervisor is present 24/7
• Nursing assistants/patient care techs are on the unit
• High flow is used only for stable COVID cases, which are rare
• Telemetry is house-wide; nurses do not need to read strips

Orientation

• 2 days of orientation, including computer and unit-specific training with an educator and one day caring for patients with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• No scrub color requirement
• Tattoos must be covered while on duty
• No piercings besides ears
