Registered Nurse – ER (Night Shift)

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule cycle
• On-call: Required as needed
• Float: May be required to float to multiple locations within the region

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications (AHA Instructor or Provider only, RQI accepted):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification, must be renewed annually)
• Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (first-timers NOT accepted)
• Documentation system: EPIC
• References: Two professional references from authority figures (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) within the last 12 months required

Special Requirements

• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 31 – March 31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with strict documentation and facility-specific forms
• Scrubs: Any solid color; bring your own or wear provided scrubs
• Physical exam: Within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
• Fit mask test: Required within 12 months prior to start; must be fully shaven for fit testing
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray: Required within 3 months of start (QGold preferred; Tspot NOT accepted)
• Immunization titers required within 5 years of start for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests
• Background checks:

  • Within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes Social Security trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and monthly HHS/OIG checks
• Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start; Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide
• Employment application/resume: Must be current and dated within 90 days of start

• Contracted hours are guaranteed
• Finalized Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included with submission; no changes accepted after offer
• Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed prior to start
• Candidates with educational backgrounds from certain disallowed institutions will not be accepted (list available upon request)

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses who have completed at least one prior travel contract and are comfortable with night shifts, floating between multiple locations, and fulfilling on-call and weekend requirements.
