Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel Assignment)

Location: El Paso, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Overview

  • Unit Type: Telemetry
  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Staffing: 41 total staff
    • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
    • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 PCTs
  • Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 5 patients
  • Equipment: GE remote telemetry
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
  • Typical Patients: Cardiac cath lab post PACU patients (left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman devices, ablations), stroke, COVID-19 patients
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per pay period

Job Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Competent in interpreting cardiac rhythms

Dress Code

  • Scrub colors: Galaxy blue for nurses, hunter green for PCTs
  • Not acceptable: hooded sweaters/jackets, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, Crocs shoes

Additional Information

  • Daily huddles at the nurse’s station at shift start (6:45 AM or 6:45 PM) are mandatory
  • Bedside shift reports and updating patient communication boards are expected
  • The unit has a mix of tenured staff and new RN graduates
  • Recognized for team awards and unit contests, reflecting a positive and engaging work environment
