Unit Information

• Unit: J6 Orthopedics
• Location: Mission Hospital
• Number of Beds: 32 individual rooms
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge RN, 6 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 3 PCTs, 1 HUC
  • Night Shift: 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 2 PCTs, 1 HUC
• Patient Ratios:

  • Day Shift: 5:1 (6:1 stretch)
  • Night Shift: 6:1 (7:1 stretch)
• Equipment: Walkers, bedside commode, bladder scanners, CPM, sky lifts, vital sign machines, and more.
• EMR System: Cerner

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Licensure: North Carolina RN License
• Certifications: BLS

Preferred Skills

• Hospital experience
• Orthopedic experience

Typical Procedures

• Dressing changes, suture/staple removal
• Foley catheter insertion
• NG tube management
• Wound vac maintenance and removal

  • RNs: Navy scrubs

• Work Schedule: Every other weekend required.
