Job Opportunity: RN - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit Name: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 40
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Unit Staffing:

  • Unit secretaries and tech availability
  • HUC available 7:30 AM - 4 PM
  • 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) scheduled daily, assigned to specific pods
  • PCTs can draw labs, perform catheterizations, and transport patients
• Equipment: Standard PACU equipment
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling: 6-week schedules issued at a time; 3 call shifts required within each 6-week period
• Floating Policy: Float within peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy, PreOp, Phase II)
• Dress Code: Surgical green or navy scrubs

Required Certifications and Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Registered Nurse License

Experience and Skills Requirements

• Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 2 years as an RN
• Requested Skill Set:

  • Trauma experience
  • Pediatric experience
  • NIH Stroke Scale experience
• Advanced Skills Needed: Ventilator monitoring
