Registered Nurse — Neuro Med-Surg Acute

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract

• 26 weeks
• Day shift, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Level 1 trauma experience
• Previous travel experience
• Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
• Experience with heparin titrated drips

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call or standby

Unit Details

• Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit
• 54 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4–5 on days, 1:5–6 on nights
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and usually does not take an assignment unless staffing is short
• House supervisor is present 24/7
• Patient care tech support is available
• House-wide telemetry is used, so nurses do not need to read strips
• High-flow support is used rarely for stable COVID patients

Responsibilities

• Titrate drips
• Float in rotation with the rest of the staff
• If floated outside the general unit, work only within skills competency and with a nurse trained for that unit

Orientation

• 2 days of orientation, including computer and unit-specific training with an educator and preceptor

Additional Notes

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Tattoos must be covered while on duty
• No piercings besides ears
• Negative drug screen required
• Requested time off must be submitted with the application
