Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days)
Contract Length: Approximately 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality patient care within institutional guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of practice.
- Conduct initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions and patient care procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support healthcare team communication.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients to resolve issues and promote professional development.
- Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate completion throughout the shift.
- Administer medications following the "5 Rights": right patient, medication, route, dose, and time.
- Prioritize patient safety measures including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation protocols, and safe ambulation.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, ensuring effective triage and care.
- Use critical thinking and nursing judgment to monitor and act on changes in patient condition.
- Facilitate efficient admission and discharge processes, especially for Observation status patients.
- Promote a positive work environment and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
