Registered Nurse – Cardiac/Pulmonary Medical/Surgical

Location: Urbana, Illinois

Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Responsibilities include patient assessment, development and implementation of care plans, medication administration, pain management, IV venipuncture, blood administration, lab monitoring, discharge planning, and documentation using EMR. Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure quality care and patient safety.

Essential Functions

• Perform nursing duties within the scope of service and unit standards.
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Implement and modify nursing interventions based on ongoing evaluation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Manage patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
• Communicate professionally and constructively with team members.
• Participate in team huddles and delegate tasks with appropriate follow-up.
• Provide basic patient care such as turning and toileting per standards.
• Manage conflict and support professional development of peers.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing required

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients, including at least 6 months in a Trauma Level 1 hospital
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
