Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Location

• Largo, Maryland

Employment Type

• Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week
• 12-hour shifts: 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM

Unit Details

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• 8 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2 (1:1 for first 12 hours post-op)
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include:

  • Cardiac surgery (CABG, valve procedures, combined CABG/valve)
  • Coronary artery disease (STEMI, NSTEMI)
  • Atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Vascular procedures (peripheral bypasses, EVAR)
  • Thoracic procedures (VATS)
• Special procedures and equipment:

  • Immediate post-op care for cardiac surgery patients
  • Ventilator management in collaboration with respiratory therapy
  • FloTrac hemodynamic monitoring
  • Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
  • Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
  • Impella device management
  • Groin/radial artery management (fem stop, TR bands)
• Floating:

  • Required PRN to Intermediate Care (IMC) unit (1:3 ratio)
  • Floating within specialty and to sister facilities within scope

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
