Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: No
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating: No floating outside like units; may float to like units only
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

  • Parking: Cost applies only for nights and weekends; one-time $20 parking pass

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Wound Care experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Wound Care Certified Nurse (WOCN) certification required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Background check within 1 year including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County and state criminal checks (including South Carolina)
    • National criminal and sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license
  • Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug test within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Color blindness test prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Competency exam required
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
    • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or documented history with chest x-ray as applicable
    • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (documentation must be uploaded before deadline)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Additional Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style badge photo with solid light background, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses, frontal view only
  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approximate duration 2 hours)
  • Radius rule: Must live within 60 miles of facility
  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Radiation badge not required for this position

  • Candidates with background hits, arrests, or convictions may not be eligible for temporary licensure walk-through process
  • Candidates must renew any certifications expiring within 30 days of start prior to assignment
  • Facility may send travelers home if orientation modules or required documentation are incomplete upon arrival
  • Sterile processing physical assessment and labs are not applicable for this RN position
