ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Kerrville, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide critical care nursing to critically ill patients in a rural 12-bed ICU.
• May float to medical/surgical units when ICU/IMC census is low (ratio 1:6). Orientation provided.
• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30–7:00).
• Approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• E-Verify compliance.
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year search (social security trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, education verification).
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Education verification.
• Primary source verification of nursing license.
• Annual competency exams (medication/pharmacology and specialty-specific).
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
• Professional references: 2 required within 3 years of start.
• Annual skills checklist.

Health & Immunization Requirements (Time Sensitive - must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable (annual requirement).
• Vaccinations or documented immunity/declination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu (vaccine or declination required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination.
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.

Additional Information

• Location is in Texas wine country, about 1 hour from San Antonio.
• Floating to other units may be required based on census.
• Orientation provided for floating assignments.
