Job Overview

  • Travel/contract RN position in Charleston, South Carolina
  • 13-week assignment
  • Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Ratios: 1:5, depending on staffing
  • Weekend rotation required: 3–4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Holiday rotation included
  • Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis if within 60 miles

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Med Surg experience
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • First-time travelers accepted

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neuro experience
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS certification

Unit Details

  • 25-bed mixed neurosurgery and general surgery unit
  • Serves patients with or without a stepdown component

Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements

  • 2 clinical references
  • Complete application/resume with all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Skills checklist for the applicable unit, updated annually
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Education verification required
  • Fit test within 90 days before start, then annually
  • Tdap within 10 years of start or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam, updated annually
  • South Carolina state exclusion list clearance
  • Work eligibility verification and completed I-9 documentation
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Annual vaccination/documentation requirements for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B
  • Annual flu documentation required during flu season; medical or religious exemptions accepted
  • COVID vaccination documentation preferred; declination accepted if not vaccinated
  • Color blind testing required before start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Competency exam required
  • Orientation modules must be completed before start
  • Badge photo required before start
  • 2 clinical references required
  • Work history verification for prior clinical employers required

Facility Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block scheduling requires manager approval
  • Hurricane season may involve emergency response assignments from June through November
