Pediatric Transplant Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in an outpatient clinic specializing in pediatric pre/post liver transplant, small bowel transplant, and hepatology.
  • Support patient care coordination including labs, imaging, phone triage, and communication with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Holiday coverage as needed.
  • No float requirement.

Required Qualifications

  • Current District of Columbia RN license must be in hand upon application.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric pre/post liver transplant, small bowel transplant, and hepatology.
  • Prior travel assignment completion required (at least one prior travel contract).
  • Flu vaccine required (or approved medical/religious exemption).

Certifications & Competencies

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required for pediatric roles (AHA or ARC).
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., ACLS, NRP, TNCC) but are not explicitly stated as mandatory here.

Background Checks & Documentation

  • Criminal background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position.
  • I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start.
  • Employment history verification covering at least 2 years within the past 7 years.
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.

Additional Information

  • Valid driver’s license required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function.
  • Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to start date.
  • Photo for badge must meet specified criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background).
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.

This position covers a maternity leave and requires an ASAP start, with available start dates in August.
