Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Float (Per Diem)

Shift Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
• Minimum commitment: 4 shifts per month

Unit and Patient Population

• Float across multiple populations including:

  • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Surgical/GYN
  • Post Intensive Cardiac Care
  • Telemetry
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Oncology
  • Renal, Hemodialysis (HD)
  • Orthopedics
• Patient age groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6 (varies by census, acuity, staffing)

Required Experience

• Minimum 1.5 years of acute care experience in MS/Telemetry

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Active New Jersey RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Required Skills

• Ability to float within skillset without exception
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Phlebotomy skills
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Scheduling and Commitment Policies

• Must be fully committed to working at one site only; no location changes allowed after approval
• Three last-minute shift cancellations (within 24–48 hours) may result in final warning or review

Orientation

• 1 day computer training at home
• 1 day on-unit training starting at 7:00 AM

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license) required within 48 hours of signing
• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (including alias and multi-level searches)
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
• Physical exam within 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start; must be updated annually
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Color blindness test if job tasks require color discrimination
• Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable
• Completion of required competency exams including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG
  • IV Therapy/Infusion (except OR specialties)
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge
• Completion of required CEUs (Continuing Education Units) as applicable
• Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgement

References and Work History

• Two clinical leadership references from assignments within the last 2 years (charge nurse references not accepted)
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
• Work history verification required for at least 1 year prior to start date with no gaps over 30 days

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific floating policy for every new assignment
• Must comply with cancellation and attendance policies
• Must wear navy blue scrub color
• Free parking available with monitored security

This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with MS/Telemetry skills who are flexible to float across multiple units and committed to night shifts on a per diem basis. Compliance with all licensing, certification, and facility-specific requirements is mandatory.
