Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to units J1-2, J33, and Emergency Department caring for the same patient population.
• Rotating day/night shifts:

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience.
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current ACLS certification.
• NIHSS Stroke Certification.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required with no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions must be approved):

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination with agency-approved exemption)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray with clearance if past positive.
• Annual flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval).
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year.

Background and Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing; results valid for 12 months and must be updated annually.
• Primary source verification of RN license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
• Employment application with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
• Two professional references from within 1 year of start date required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Orientation and Facility Requirements

• Completion of online onboarding modules prior to start; modules must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Modules include training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out the candidate.
• Modules typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
• Candidates returning after a break longer than 6 months must re-complete modules.
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
• Facility will cover up to 4 hours of module time.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared for variable shifts and floating to other units as needed.
• Passing scores on medication and ECG competency exams are mandatory.
• Prior travel experience is accepted but not explicitly required.
• Candidates must be available to work at least every other holiday.

Work Hours

• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week (typically 3 shifts per week).
• Rotating day and night shifts as described above.
