Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Tele) - Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license
- Certifications required:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation
Orientation & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate pass/fail testing required during orientation
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Pass/fail testing not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts at Cleveland Clinic locations
Background & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required on assignment
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Fingerprints done under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
- Facility will conduct their own fingerprinting in addition to agency process
- Education verification required for all candidates
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case; declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start, updated annually
- TB questionnaire if history of positive TB, signed by provider, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required; boosters if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination documentation required
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required; booster if negative/equivocal
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31); declinations not accepted
- Eye exam required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later
Documentation & History
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty
- Annual skills checklist required
- State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start for new and extension contracts
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing (except OR nurses)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Facility onboarding modules must be completed prior to clearance to start; these cannot be completed on a phone and require watching training videos before tests
- Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic contracts may have some orientation/testing waived
- Must be prepared to work rotating shifts and every other holiday
