Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown Unit
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Shift Details
- Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Cardiac Stepdown)
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only (D/N rotating shifts)
- Shift Times: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM / 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- Minimum 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Progressive Care experience preferred but not required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
Holiday & Orientation Requirements
- Must work at least every other holiday
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks required prior to start and must be updated annually
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing required within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from within one year of start, from a manager or supervisor (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Pass/fail testing for ECG and medication dosing during orientation (retake available if needed)
Notes
- Candidates must complete fingerprinting both through the agency and at the facility
- Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and certifications before clearance to start
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with strong cardiac stepdown skills and the ability to work rotating shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
