Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Job Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may vary to meet hospital operational needs
- Facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate
- Work Schedule: Must work at least every other holiday
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Orientation & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication competency test required during orientation
- Passing scores on both assessments are mandatory
- Pass/Fail testing applies to all bedside RNs except OR nurses
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks required prior to start and must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
- Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 12 months, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
- Must submit 2 professional references from within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
- Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting at the facility in addition to agency process
Notes
- Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days between assignments may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- PAPR approvals for mask fit failures are handled on a case-by-case basis with required documentation
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone
- Candidates must watch training videos fully before taking tests to avoid being locked out
