Oncology Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Tyler, Texas
Position Details
- Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse
- Location: Tyler, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit Focus: Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy administration
- Patient Diagnoses: All cancer diagnoses including hematology malignant and non-malignant conditions
- Charting System: Epic
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Chemotherapy certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start date
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if titers negative or equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification including highest level of education
- Work history verification for 7 years
- Fingerprinting: Required for New Mexico placements only (not applicable here)
Documentation and Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID required
- E-Verify compliance required
- Orientation packet review and signed acknowledgement required prior to start
- Clear headshot photo required for badge
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not eligible for this travel assignment: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized oncology unit administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, requiring strong clinical skills and relevant certifications.
