Job Opportunity: Pediatric Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse
Location

Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Pediatric Cardiac ICU / CVICU / CICU
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift available (3 shifts of 12 hours, 7:30 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Rotation: 50/50 Day/Night rotation available (7 AM/7 PM shifts) or permanent nights
- Float Opportunities: MSICU, MICU, NICU, ACCU
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care with children and adults with congenital heart disease
- Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-timers (must have prior travel experience)
Required Certifications
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS if assignment extends beyond 13 weeks)
Work Schedule Requirements
- Weekend requirement: Must work 3 out of every 6 weekends
- On-call: Not required
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Massachusetts
- License verification must be completed within 30 days of start date
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 10-year criminal background check required within 6 months prior to start date, including all aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Massachusetts CORI release required and must be completed within 60 days of start date
- Additional background checks and clearances as required by state and facility policies
- Two professional references from two separate employers within the last three years
- Employment application with 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and/or proof of immunity required for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframe
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required annually (must be completed by November 14)
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption required; seasonal COVID vaccine preferred but not mandatory
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for advanced practice nurses)
Competency and Skills Verification
- Pediatric Pharmacology Competency Exam required for RNs and LPNs (not required for APNs)
- Competency exam required (not required for APNs)
- Skills checklist specific to the unit within one year prior to start date
Additional Requirements
- Proof of name change documentation if applicable
- Respiratory Safety Agreement and clearance required; fit testing completed onsite
- Onboarding packet to be completed approximately 2 weeks prior to start date
- Must submit required forms and documentation within specified timeframes to avoid delays
